Advanced Gut Testing for Whole-Body Health
The GI-MAP (Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus) is a functional medicine stool test that provides deep insight into your digestive and immune health. Unlike standard lab work, the GI-MAP uses DNA technology to assess the entire ecosystem of your gut—identifying pathogens, inflammation markers, digestive function, and the balance of good vs. bad bacteria.
At L’Elite MediSpa, we use GI-MAP Testing to uncover the hidden root causes of symptoms like bloating, fatigue, food sensitivities, hormone imbalance, and skin issues. Your gut affects nearly every system in your body—and the GI-MAP helps us treat it with precision.
-
How It Works
You’ll collect a small stool sample at home using the provided GI-MAP kit. The sample is sent to a specialized lab that uses quantitative PCR (qPCR) technology to measure levels of microbes, parasites, yeast, viruses, and other markers that affect gut and immune function. Once results are in, your provider will review them in detail and create a customized wellness protocol.
-
What It Reveals
The GI-MAP test measures gut pathogens (bacteria, parasites, yeast), beneficial flora, digestive enzymes, immune markers (like SIgA), inflammatory markers (like calprotectin), and leaky gut indicators (like zonulin). It also shows how well your body is clearing toxins like H. pylori or candida—and whether gut dysfunction may be driving systemic issues like fatigue or autoimmunity.
-
Benefits
With this data, we can personalize your nutrition, supplement, and gut repair plan—targeting the root causes of symptoms instead of just masking them. The GI-MAP is especially useful for clients with chronic gut issues, skin conditions, anxiety, low energy, and hormone imbalance.
-
The Process
You’ll receive a GI-MAP test kit with step-by-step instructions to collect a stool sample in the comfort of your own home. Once collected, the sample is mailed to the lab in prepaid packaging. Results return in about 2–3 weeks, followed by a consultation to review your findings and start a customized gut healing plan.
-
Results & Recovery
There’s no recovery—it’s a test, not a treatment—but the impact can be transformational. Using your results, we’ll guide you through a gut-healing protocol that may include antimicrobials, digestive enzymes, probiotics, and dietary shifts. Clients often notice improvement in digestion, energy, skin clarity, and mental focus within weeks.
-
Preventative
Even if you’re symptom-free, the GI-MAP is a powerful preventive tool. It helps us spot early signs of imbalance, poor detox, or inflammation before they evolve into chronic issues. For anyone focused on long-term wellness, hormone balance, or immune resilience, this is a foundational diagnostic test.

GI-MAP for Hormone and Skin Health
Your gut doesn’t just affect digestion—it also influences estrogen metabolism, cortisol balance, and skin clarity. Imbalances in the microbiome can drive estrogen dominance, acne, eczema, or rosacea.
The GI-MAP allows us to see how your gut is contributing to hormonal or skin symptoms and create a targeted plan to rebalance the microbiome for clearer skin and hormonal harmony.

Your Questions, Expertly Answered
Whether you’re dealing with digestive discomfort, hormonal challenges, or skin flare-ups, the GI-MAP helps us uncover the gut-based root causes. Still have questions? We’ve answered the most common ones to help you feel fully confident before your test.
The GI-MAP (Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus) is an advanced stool test that uses DNA technology to detect and measure pathogens, gut flora, and intestinal health markers. It goes far beyond standard lab tests by offering a functional view of how your digestive system is working and what might be disrupting it.
The test is helpful for identifying causes of bloating, constipation, diarrhea, food sensitivities, fatigue, acne, eczema, autoimmune flares, and hormone imbalance. It can also uncover hidden infections like H. pylori, parasites, candida, or bacterial overgrowth (SIBO-like patterns).
It’s simple and done at home. You’ll receive a collection kit with clear instructions. After collecting a small stool sample, you’ll seal it in the provided container and mail it to the lab using the prepaid box. No refrigeration or special handling required.
In most cases, no. Because GI-MAP is a functional medicine tool, it’s not typically reimbursed by insurance. However, the insights it provides often save clients time and money by avoiding unnecessary procedures, guesswork, or prescriptions. We’ll explain pricing and value during your consultation.
Your provider will meet with you to walk through the full GI-MAP report. Based on your results, we’ll design a personalized healing protocol that may include antimicrobials, probiotics, enzyme support, gut lining repair, or diet changes. We’ll also set up follow-ups to track your progress.
GI-MAP Testing is available at all three L’Elite MediSpa locations—Brooklyn, Harlem, and Melville. Our providers are trained in functional gut health analysis and will guide you through the process from testing to treatment so you can get to the root of your symptoms and finally feel like yourself again.
